Workshops
Rebecca teaches several types of workshops. Her hands-on oral history training workshop “Collecting Community Voices” focuses on all facets of gathering oral histories. Oral histories can be used for personal projects (i.e. genealogy) or community use. She will provide the necessary tools to ensure a successful outcome and compliance with the Oral History Association guidelines. (3 hours)
Rebecca’s Memoir Writing Workshop “Ready, Set, Write!” covers the basics of memoir writing. The workshop looks at techniques on how to get your story started. Numerous writing prompts and exercises are given throughout the workshop to get the creative juices flowing. In-class readings are provided plus participants will be required to read some selections prior to class. Laptops or tablets are helpful, but not required. This class can be modified for all age groups from children and young adults to Senior Centers and Nursing Home residents. (6 hours)
Dr. Karimi is available to create, design and implement oral history projects and personally gather oral histories for a nominal fee. She’d be happy to speak to you about this service via email.
